I have at last managed to finish skinning the wings. Top sheets were applied over the weekend. Used sandbags to weigh the sheets down as they mould to the profile of the wing. Needed a bit of Lead on the wingtips and clamps to get the sheet to form to the complex curves at that point, but apart from that, the sheets went on quite quickly and easily!
Looking at other plans, I think a solid wing tip would have been easier to construct, but I'm sure there are reasons for the way it has been designed.

Retracts
Have now got the retracts for the Zero. Quite substantial really. I am just strating with the final skinning before glass coating the wing.

Skins
Who would have thought having twins would have scuppered my building so much! Anyway I seem to have a bit more time at the moment so have now completed the skins for the top of the wings. I hope to apply them to the wing next week and incorporate the washout.

More work on the wings
Found some more time to work on the wings and have managed to join the two halves together. Next step sking the tops while applying washout! Looking forward to working on the fuselage again.

A bit of a diversion!
As a bit of a diversion I am currently trying to design a 1/5th scale Hawker Tempest. So far it is not looking too bad.

Wing Internals
Manged to get a bit more time in the workshop last night. I have installed the two servo bays, one for the airelon and the other for the flaps. Hopefully there will be no push rods evident on the outside of the wing when completed.
I also installed wing former W1. I made a stand that was exactly 4.5 inches high, which is the amount of dihedral required at former W11. Then when the wing was propped up I used a set square to ensure W1 was vertical and a straight edge to make sure it wasn't bowed. Seems to be ok. Will do the other wing at the weekend and seem if they join up ok!

Started again at last!
I have finally managed to find some time to start building again. Last night I cut a slot in the stabaliser to locate it onto the fuselage and removed some stringers from the fuselage to allow the stabaliser to be positioned.
The next step is going to be skinning the wings, back to the model shop for some wood I think!
